Research permit application

When you wish to use data collected from the staff or students of Metropolia, you need a research permit. Metropolia is committed to TENK's guidelines. Therefore, the permit can only be accepted if the research adheres to the responsible conduct for research.

Filling out the application:
• The application must entail at least the basic information of the research the researchers, the responsible researcher or the advisor for the thesis, the name of the study, the organizations involved, the goals and research problems, the schedule, and the role of Metropolia UAS.

Mandatory attachments:
• The application must contain: a research plan (incl. a data management plan), an informed consent and all potential materials handed out to the research subject (questionnaires etc.)
• If you handle personal data, the data protection plan must be attached. If your research requires and ethical statement, be sure to attach it to the application.

You may save the unfinished application without submitting it. You receive a link to you email with which you can continue later. You speed up the process by attaching all mandatory attachments.

Terms for granting a permit

In order for the grant to be permitted, the applicant must comply with:
• Metropolia is committed to TENK's guidelines. Permits can be granted only for research which complies with good research practice and research ethical guidelines.
• Data collection must be done in compliance with law. The researcher is responsible to use data confidentially and only for the study for which the permit is granted.
• Thesis worker, please note, that the research permit application, should be applied jointly with the supervisor and only after the research plan has been approved.

The permit is granted on a case-by-case basis for scientific, RDI and/or thesis related research, which is significant either societally or for Metropolia. Significance is evaluated based on the possible harms (for e.g., time, stimuli, data protection risks) for the participant as opposed to the value being sought after.

After completion of the study, the applicant must submit a summary to the address tutkimusluvat@metropolia.fi.

The information of the application (incl. personal data) is recorded and handled according to the Research permit- data register. I have understood the terms for granting a research permit and I agree to these terms.
